Even though this could sound foolish for some people out there, the new icons that were implemented in Windows 10 build 9926, and which are still around today, have created some sort of dispute online, where many people criticized the software giant for the new design.

With Windows 10, Microsoft is going all-in on a flat look, so the company also decided to redesign the built-in icons to make the desktop and the operating system altogether look fresh and modern.

And it did, but in a way that doesn’t really appeal to all users. Many have said Windows 10’s icons look childish and old, while some have even demonstrated that it takes only a couple of minutes to design the new Recycle Bin icon.

83 icons available for download

Windows 10 build 10036 got leaked last week, and in addition to some other visual improvements, the new version also raised the number of new icons to 83. Thanks to @BAV0, we can download the whole pack and see each icon in all its glory, although we’re pretty sure that some might not like this given the recent criticism over the design.

On the other hand, this pack also comes in handy to those who like the icons and want to customize the looks of their current Windows version with icons borrowed from Windows 10.

But if you’re one of the many people who hate the new icons, there’s still room for hope. Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, has said that the existing design is part of an early UI that could change before the final version of the OS is approved.

In the meantime, the company also started collecting feedback for icons and is working on a new pack for future builds, so all signs are pointing to significant changes in this regard. Hopefully, Microsoft could implement the new icons in the upcoming Windows 10 build, which according to the company itself should see daylight in April.
