Google News is a very attractive service from the point of view of a user hungry for information, because the search giant's technology gathers news from approximately 4.500 sources and publishes them on a single page. Because of that, Google News was often criticized by the
Internet companies, many of them considering the Mountain View company receives money and praises for the content offered by other publishers. However, Google News is one of the top sources of traffic for numerous news websites because the technology provides a link to the original author of the article.
Since Google rolled out the Personalized Homepage, the company started working on the personalization capabilities of most of its products, Google News being one of them. At this time, the main site of the service allows you to configure the front page in order to show you the most interesting articles depending on your preferences. Gina Bonzani, News Support Team, wrote that most of the users like to personalize the Google News page by adding their own categories while others are removed.
"One of the easiest ways to personalize the News homepage is to move the sections that you most like to read to the top of your page and remove the sections you don't. For me, that means no Sports section. Or, if you're interested in a particular topic, you can use personalized News to create a custom section using a keyword. Many Google News readers use this feature to track their favorite sport or team," the Google employee stated.
Obviously, the best way to stay up-to-date with the latest articles published on Google News is to read them by RSS using one of the numerous software solutions available on the Internet. "Finally, if you use a feed reader (such as Google Reader) to read your news, you can get an RSS or Atom feed from your custom News section. Just click into your custom section and click on either the RSS or Atom link on the lefthand side of the page."
If you want to download an RSS reader, you can download one from Softpedia using this
