Exactly! Paris Hilton sees herself not only as the iconic blonde of the 21st century, the ultimate symbol of whatever it is that she fancies herself to be, but also as the embodiment of the American fantasy princess. Yeah, right, everybody loves a partying, slutty, air-headed princess!
This summer, the heiress made the statement of the century, by comparing herself to the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Princess Diana. Just like them, she is that blonde that dominates everything, the woman to which all men dream of, women aspire to and who manipulates us all by the power of her mind. Of course, why not?
'There's nobody in the world like me. I think every decade has an iconic blonde - like Marilyn Monroe or Princess Diana - and, right now, I'm that icon. I'm stuck in the myth, baby', she said during an interview with a British paper.
And Paris (in all her modesty) doesn't stop here. Being recently asked about her beautiful blue eyes, the heiress was forced into a corner and admitted that, in fact, she is wearing contact lenses. But she also had an explanation for it: you see, she has to preserve her image, she has to live the princess dream in front of the cameras all the time and her natural brown eyes wouldn't have done it. So, she got herself a pair of blue ones.
'I'm a brand, an entertainer. The brand Paris Hilton is like a fantasy life. I think people think of me as like an American princess fantasy. I want to be an icon. It's just something I always wanted to be. Madonna is an icon and just amazing. The color of my eyes is part of the image I want', Paris said.
Wait, let's go back for a sec! Indeed, Paris Hilton is a brand and she is the most talked about celebrity but that doesn't happen because she is good or talented or whatever. People talk, write and care about her because she is dumb and she is fun to watch. Her comments, at least, provide one with laughing material for a couple of days, if not for more.
Then again, she IS right about one thing: Madonna is an icon, but we are sad to inform Miss Hilton that the Queen of Pop is an icon because she actually did something to earn her that title. It wasn't the blue eyes, honey...
