As if being named the most controversial celebrity of the year wasn't enough, I guess we'll also crown pop star (can we still call her that?) Britney Spears with the tiara in the Photoshop category. Let's face it, she had some tough competition from
Brooke Hogan who held tight to the title she won once she appeared in 'FHM', but Brit Brit beat her to a punch.
This is the promotional photo for Spears' latest fragrance, 'Midnight Fantasy' and, although it does manage to convey to the viewer exactly that which the perfume is supposed to stand for, it's so fake that it's almost outrageous.
As I was saying back in October, when Hulk Hogan's baby daughter graced the pages of 'FHM', looking so fiery hot and so unlike her true self, the big question here is this: how much is too much Photoshop?
I know that retouching a flaw or some features that just wouldn't do for the cameras is OK, but where is one to draw the line? As beautiful and fairy-like Britney looks here, that is not her. The Britney we all know (and some of us still love) is a mess right now: chewing gum all the time and giggling like a school girl, wearing clothes that seem bought from the children's department, occasionally flashing some part of her body that we didn't necessarily need to see to feel better, and so on and so forth.
The Britney we know is nothing like this beautiful woman who seems to beseech us to follow her into a magical world, where dreams come true and miracles take place (also notice the similarity between this photo and the ones taken for her 'In the Zone' tour book). This is the hand of Photoshop and, as good as it may be (and it is), it's a fake nonetheless.
And yet, seeing that this is the best photo of Britney taken in a very, very long time, I think I'd buy her fragrance like a good little consumer that I am. Let's not let all that money go to waste, y'all!
