After the extraordinary UEFA Champions League Final on Stade de France, things couldn't go differently. The Frenchman simply had to stay with the "gunners", not because he'll earn more money from the future contract, or because his coach asked him to stay, but because the team itself gave him the most solid reason for not packing his bags.

At least, that's the way he, Thierry Henry, saw it today, only 2 days away
from the Champions League loss. He said that a stay at Arsenal would not make him happier: "I hope to stay for as long as I can keep running. I could not face leaving the fans. They are like my family. I hope to finalize all the details today. My team showed me I didn't have to leave. They showed me they had heart. Everything was up in the air for a very long time. But at the end of the day, the team raised their game. Don't get me wrong, I love Barcelona. But on Wednesday night, the team showed me they had heart".

He has been in talks with the Londoners since yesterday. According to the information released by British newspaper "The Sun", Thierry Henry is to remain a "gunner" for at least 4 more years. Henry said that he's hoping to sign the contract in less than 24 hours.

If everything goes as planned and the Frenchman will sign a new contract, both parties reaching a very lucrative deal for the striker, Henry is more than likely to end his football carrier in England. The news couldn't have come in better timing for the Arsenal fans, after their sad defeat against Barcelona. "I hope that, with their help, we can get our revenge next year. With the players that are now part of this team, we're one of the strongest sides in world football", concluded Henry.
