Just when you thought the Ben-Affleck-as-Batman-in-“Man of Steel 2” controversy had died down, here comes Seth Green to pour fuel onto the fire. In a new interview with Ora TV’s Larry King Now, the actor underlines what fans of the Batman franchise have been saying all along: Affleck simply lacks the gravitas needed for the part.

It’s not that Affleck is not a good actor or that he would not make a lot of money with his projects, Green underlines, as reported by The Wrap; however, he would not make a convincing Batman.

Green personally believes Henry Cavill’s Superman would simply laugh in the face of Affleck’s Batman, and that’s saying a lot since the two are supposed to be enemies in the upcoming “Batman vs. Superman,” from director Zack Snyder, who also gave us “Man of Steel,” the Superman reboot.

“Modern mainstream is accepting of interpretations of these characters with more gravitas, you know. We’re past the time of Adam West’s kind of goofy interpretation of Batman,” Green says.

He admits that his favorite Batman in the series is Michael Keaton’s and adds that Christian Bale’s version of the Caped Crusader was also pretty neat. Ben Affleck couldn’t possibly raise to the bar these two set.

“You gotta remember that at the core of that character, Batman’s a crazy person. Batman has no powers. Batman is a rich, screwed up kid whose parents were killed in front of him,” Green says, trying to explain why he could never imagine Affleck doing justice to the character.

“If this movie is meant to be the idealistic alien, humans before all else Superman, and this is supposed to be the grizzled weathered Batman who’s been living in Gotham, fighting crime himself for 10 years, you need a guy who’s older, you need a guy who’s got more weight, you need a guy that a Henry Cavill Superman is gonna be actually scared of,” he explains.

He won’t deny that Affleck will most definitely get in proper shape or that he has acting skills well above average; however, he’s not convinced he will be a very convincing Batman – and he’s even less if he takes into account Ben’s previous brush with a superhero role, in the critically panned “Daredevil.”

“There is only so much that you can act a role before people are or are not going to believe you in that role. I’m never going to play, um, you know, an MMA fighter, because I’d step into the ring with an actual MMA fighter like Batista and I wouldn’t look correct,” Green says.
