Kellan Lutz trained hard to get the body of a god in the upcoming “Immortals” but he’s not the only one to have done so. Co-star Henry Cavill still has a vivid memory of the grueling training he underwent for the movie.

In a recent interview cited by Examiner, Cavill reveals that, as a kid, he was quite the non-athletic type. In fact, kids used to taunt him for being heavier than the rest.

“[I was called] Fat Cavill. Kids are cruel. Whatever. I was fat,” he says.

With the physique he’s boasting now, he might as well serve them that classic line of “Who’s fat now?” but chances are this is the last thing on his mind.

The actor recalls he worked hard to get in shape for the role and says that, if it weren’t for the other cast members, he’d probably have given up on the first difficult day.

When shooting began and after lots of weight lifting, Cavill was 25 pounds (11kg) lighter and had an athlete’s body with just 6% body fat.

For all this, he credits the extras on the movie set.

“There was a sense of team and camaraderie. We all sweated together, we all bled together, we all ate the same highly inefficient food and just kept on going and supported each other,” Cavill says.

“Because they were doing it – and if they could do it, so could I. It’s not the end of the world that your feet hurt. Push yourself,” the actor adds.

Eventually, he did find the strength and motivation to push himself. Still, maintaining his ripped physique for the duration of the shooting was no small feat.

“It’s very stressful [trying to maintain a ripped 8-pack], waking up Monday morning and saying, ‘Can I still see that vein in my abs?’” he says.

Even so, he’s doing a wonderful job at staying in shape. Recent photos of him on the set of “Superman: Man of Steel” have emerged online and he’s actually looking bigger and more ripped than he was in “Immortals,” as we also noted earlier today.
