Lady Gaga and her unmistakable style have made so many headlines this past year or so, it’s redundant to call her a trendsetter anymore. She’s accustomed her fans and critics alike to some of the wackiest, most extravagant outfits and poses to date – but truly nothing can compete with the photospread she took part in on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Hello Kitty, as InStyle can confirm.

The shots, taken by famed photographers Markus Klinko and Indrani, will be featured in the booklet of Gaga's re-packaged album, “The Fame: Monster.” Some of them show her in creations made entirely of Hello Kitty dolls, like a floor-length evening gown, while others have the singer as the famous character itself. In most of the pics, Gaga is with her eyes closed, having her lids painted with anime-style, blue peepers.

“Just when you think Lady Gaga can’t get any more daring, the singer goes and pulls out all the stops! The singer posed for a series of new daring shots to celebrate the 35th birthday of cult brand Hello Kitty. Gaga can bee seen in a jewel-embellished shell bra and fishnet tights with a Hello Pussy purse slung around her waist. She can also be seen with a giant red Hello Kitty bow against a gold backdrop with manga cartoon eyes drawn on her eyelids,” InStyle writes of the recent photospread, from which pictures have just surfaced.

“But one of the most striking images shows Gaga in a dress made entirely of Hello Kitty cuddly toys. The images – by celebrated photographers Markus Klinko and Indrani – will feature on the cover of the limited-edition re-issue of Gaga’s hit album, ‘The Fame.’ The Hello Kitty line, by Japanese company Sanrio, includes toys, stationery, clothes, stickers and home appliances,” adds the same publication.

Clearly, the entire spread is an homage to the legendary Hello Kitty doll / character, and a very stylish one while we’re at it. With all this, some can’t but believe Gaga has crossed some boundaries that she shouldn’t have, and they say so on dedicated forums. Their strongest argument to date seems to be that Hello Kitty is the sweetest thing ever imagined (they don’t say she has no mouth because she smiles with the heart for nothing), whereas Gaga’s tribute is just plain “creepy.”
