This is the sixth collaboration of Johnny Depp and director Tim Burton since 1990. The actor who got universal acclaim for his part as the joyous and wacky Captain Sparrow in the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise will take on, this time, a more serious role in the movie inspired from the long-running musical.

According to sources from the industry, Helena Bonham Carter is to be attached next to the project, as the wife of Depp's character, Mrs. Lovett. The story of the murderous barber, who embarks on a personal vendetta against those who wrongfully imprisoned him, has its roots in one of Britain's lore legends, almost as famous as that of Jack the Ripper.

Depp plays the barber Benjamin Baqrker, who kills and dismembers the people he has a grudge against. He then disposes of their bodies by making delicious meat pies and selling them to the others. Obviously, Carter will play the accomplice and best aide. It is rumored that Sacha Barton Cohen ('Borat') is also interested in starring in the Warner Bros. movie/musical, as the rival barber Signor Adolfo Pirelli.

Considering that Helena Bonham Carter has just finished shooting for 'Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix' (as Bellatrix Lestrange), sources in the movie industry presume that she is now preparing her dancing shoes and singing voice to start working with Depp really soon.
