Actress Helena Bonham Carter says she was shocked when Vanity Fair included her in the best dressed list

She’s so accustomed to always finding her name on the worst dressed list that Hollywood star Helena Bonham Carter actually had a mild shock when Vanity Fair included her among the best dressed, she reveals.

Fans must know that Carter has always gotten as much media attention for her wacky fashion sense as she got for her acting achievements, if not actually more.

Fashion critics considered her out of this world (and not in a good way), while fans limited themselves to saying she was original and had such a strong personality she would not obey trends.

In all fairness, as she said more than once, Helena was always about dressing in things that she found comfortable, regardless of whether they looked good or not.

Which is precisely why she was so shocked to see the industry was actually paying attention to her for the first time, she says in a brand new interview cited by the Daily Mail.

In fact, she could hardly believe her own eyes, she reveals.

“It was a triumph! It made me laugh because I thought it was a joke when I found out,” the actress, whose credits include a long list of critically acclaimed films, says.

“But when I saw the article, I thought, ‘Oh, the photos they’ve chosen are as bad as the ones they print when I’m worst dressed’,” Carter says with her trademark sense of humor.

“Vanity Fair claims their best-dressed list is ‘is about individual taste, not fashion trends,’ making Helena a somewhat appropriate choice,” the Mail explains.

“The Alice in Wonderland star claims her favorite items are ‘her bloomers’ and a pair of Vivienne Westwood shoes ‘that instantly convert me from dwarf to Amazon’,” the tab further writes.

Vivienne Westwood is actually Helena’s designer of choice, though she insists she no longer feels the same pressure she did when she was young to dress a certain way.

Also on the Vanity Fair list are Lady Gaga and David Bekcham, who are being celebrated for their unique, refreshing and always surprising fashion sense.
