Aged just 23, Heidi Montag, star of MTV’s “The Hills” and aspiring pop artist, usually keeps herself in the limelight with the help of her paparazzi friends, having a solid reputation as one of the most fame-hungry celebs out there. As of November last year, Montag has been in hiding, getting massive cosmetic surgery to become the “best of me,” as she puts it. In fact, Heidi kept even her mother out of the loop, People magazine informs.

The reality star, as it’s already known, got no less than 10 procedures in a single day – and the result is a face that she still can’t move properly because it’s not yet completely healed and a mother she’s afraid to face because she has kept her in the dark. As the aforementioned publication puts it, Heidi has not told her mother that, next time they meet, she’d be practically unrecognizable and she (the mother) had to find out in the media about it.

Understandably, she’s not happy about it. “When Heidi Montag underwent 10 plastic surgery procedures in one day, the Hills star kept her plans secret from friends – and even her family. Now, nine weeks after her dramatic transformation, Montag is dealing with the horrified reaction of her mom, Darlene Egelhoff,” People writes. As per ongoing reports, Darlene is fuming over what her daughter has done and she can’t wait for her to come back home and let her have a piece of her mind.

“‘I still can’t believe I’m 23 and mom is reacting this way,’ Montag tells People. ‘I’m nervous to go home and face her – especially with cameras rolling.’ A source close to the family tells People that Egelhoff ‘is horrified and having a total breakdown. She can’t wait to confront Heidi when she goes home.’ Montag’s mom, who lives in Colorado where the reality star grew up, will get her wish soon. ‘Heidi is planning to head back to her small town of Crested Butte very soon,’ says the source,” People goes on to say.

In the meanwhile, her mom’s wrath is not the only thing that Heidi Montag has to face: after doing a series of media interviews on her changed looks (“upgraded” is how she describes them), the reality star came under heavy fire for sending out the wrong message to her many young female fans, namely that surgery is the path to happiness and self confidence. Some even go as far as to say that Montag completely made herself unrecognizable because she needed the publicity to launch her music career, an allegation she has repeatedly refuted, but that seems obstinate enough not to go away.
