Star says she has plans to become an icon

Heidi Montag is often criticized in the media for her and her husband’s way of attracting attention onto themselves, that is, by calling the paparazzi and staging photo-ops. Still, the blonde star has big hopes of becoming the next Marilyn Monroe of our times, and no amount of criticism is going to stop her from pursuing her dream, she says in a recent interview with Britain’s Closer magazine.

As we also reported a while back, Montag made her official “music” debut at this year’s Miss Universe beauty pageant, where she performed her first single, “Body Language.” The entire number was completely thrashed in the newspapers (be they music-oriented or not) and, for once, the fact that a young female artist lip-synched had nothing to do with it. Montag does not belong on a stage, has no dancing skills and would better orient herself towards something she is truly good at, many have said upon seeing her performance.

Yet, Heidi is not the one to let criticism bring her down. Her aim is to become an icon and, in order to do so, she has learned that bad publicity is better than no publicity at all. She has also discovered the wonders of modern methods of beautification (i.e. plastic surgery), for which reason she’s set to go up from a C cup to a DD – because a girl needs her curves in order to succeed.

Heidi will continue to pursue a singing career and thinks she’s done pretty well for herself so far, considering that the Miss Universe gig was her first ever of this magnitude. “I just ignore it. I know my skills and talent. I’d never performed in front of so many people, let alone a billion watching me on TV. Afterwards there was a lot of negativity on the internet, but I deal with it. It happens to everyone like me and I can only do my best and feel happy.” the aspiring music star says for Closer.

With this kind of determination and the apparent ability of always keeping herself in the spotlight, it is hard to imagine how Heidi Montag could ever fade into oblivion without accomplishing what she wants to.
