I don't usually like to admit to my own ignorance, but this is one of those rare moments in which I will do it publicly. Kidding. Well, sort of. The fact is, as an entertainment editor, you're often confronted with very, very silly (OK, downright stupid) things stated by celebrities of all sorts. You'll have to agree with me on this one - after a while, even laughing at Paris Hilton's selfish narcissism and silliness loses its charm (well, sort of), and so you get to develop this thick armour of skepticism, that any worthy celebrity has to break through in order to impress you in any way. In this context, you can pretty much see why Hedi Klum had me all skeptical in the beginning, as I thought "oh, she's just one of those gorgeous-looking models but I bet her head is completely empty".
Well, lucky thing I didn't bet on it, because I would have been wrong. She may be a world-famous knock-out supermodel, and she may be blonde, but Heidi is arguably one of the very fresh, entertaining and overall extremely pleasant presences on our TV screens right now. Below, you can see her on Jimmy Kimmel and on Ellen's talk show, being funny and unaffected while still doing a great job of promoting the Project Runway finale. Hear that, Jessica Alba? Someone call Lindsay Lohan, and drop Katie (sorry, Kate) Holmes a note while you're at it. This is why they call them "talk" shows, see - people (celebrities I mean) are really supposed to talk and not just look pretty and smile for the camera.
I mean, if looking reasonably pretty with your face covered in tons of make-up would be enough to make someone famous, I think some of the celebrities out there could have their whole brains removed and still manage to keep their faces on the covers of magazines. Heidi on the other hand really seems to have scored big on all fronts: she's happily married, already a mother of three, and is keeping busy with something she's really good at - namely, a fashion show. She's not adopting 20 kids, selling her latest baby photos or throwing hissy diva fits. Hear that Mariah Carey?
