Microsoft chooses not to talk on Surface RT sales, but according to several unofficial reports, the tablet is far from becoming a potential iPad killer.

J.P. Morgan analyst John DiFucci estimates that Microsoft has sold a total of 700,000 units in the December quarter and predicts that these figures will grow up to 2.6 million for the June 2013 fiscal year, according to Forbes.

The hefty price and the negative reviews are the two most important factors that affect Surface RT sales, the analyst believes.

“We believe a number of factors, including price, the lack of cellular connectivity, and relatively lukewarm critical reviews will limit its broad appeal at this time. In addition, at least some Surface sales will be cannibalistic to traditional laptop sales,” DiFucci was quoted as saying by the source.
