A major new release of Karelia Software’s website creation tool Sandvox is now available either as a free upgrade, or a paid one, depending on your timing purchase. Those who are upgrading can benefit from an introductory price of just US$37 ($40 off the regular price). Update: introduction updated to clarify that the $37 price is for 'upgrades' not for new licenses. The team at Karelia is pleased to
announce that, after painstaking work spanning more than two years, Sandvox 2.0 is now available.
“This version represents a huge leap forward in Sandvox's development,” says the development team. “It makes website creation easier and faster, and gives Sandvox users more flexibility than ever before.”
Sandvox 2.0 introduces a completely new architecture and editing engine. In plain English, this basically means that users can now mix and match content "objects" in more ways.
It’s easier now to include text, photography, and video on the same page, Karelia is throwing in more than 20 flexible objects, including Facebook and Twitter, and more, including some from third-party developers.
A completely new design chooser and new color variations for popular designs are now available.
The Karelia iMedia Browser is now built right into Sandvox 2.0, “so finding all that content to mix and match will be that much easier,” the team says on its blog.
Site created with Sandvox 2.0 will automatically support HTML5 and jQuery, while comment support has been expanded to include Disqus, IntenseDebate, and Facebook Comments.
Also important, Karelia has combined the “Regular” and “Pro” editions of Sandvox into a single edition containing Pro-level features.
Since Sandvox 2.0 is not your ordinary incremental update, Karelia is charging those who are moving up from a previous version of Sandvox.
For a limited time, a single user license will go for US$67. The app regularly costs $77.
The introductory pricing applies to upgrades as well. These now go for $37 (regularly $47). The offer stands until May 20, 2011.
Those who’ve recently bought a full license are not left out in the cold, Karelia said. They’re compensating everyone who purchased Sandvox after January 5 with eligibility for a free upgrade. If that’s you, expect an email from Karelia.
