Besides the recently confirmed Ratchet & Clank movie, producer Blockade Entertainment also confirms that it's working on an animated film based on the Heavenly Sword game that first appeared many years ago on the PlayStation 3.

Video game-based movies haven't exactly respected their source material, although animated films certainly made an impressive effort, especially when the original developers and writers were involved.

After hearing that Insomniac Games is working alongside Blockade and Rainmaker Entertainment for a Ratchet & Clank movie, Blockade has apparently confirmed to Variety that it's also working on an animated movie based on the Heavenly Sword game.

Unlike the Ratchet & Clank movie, which is going to be launched in cinemas, the Heavenly Sword film will go straight to DVD.

As of yet, no other details are known so it's unclear just how involved the game's original developer, Ninja Theory, is in the film's production process.
