Heather Mills Goes for a Beauty Pageant

The former Lady McCartney will judge Miss U.S.A.

Heather Mills is not retiring from the public scene

The bitter and very public divorce between former glamor model Heather Mills and Sir Paul McCartney came to an end yesterday, when a family court judge awarded Miss Mills $33 million in cash, $15.6 million in assets and payments of $70,000 a year in child support. It may seem like a lot of money, but we have to take into account the fact that the Beatle's ex wife requested a $250 million pay-off for the four years she was married to Sir Paul. The end of the divorce does not however put an end to Heather Mills' decision to keep herself in the spotlight, as the freshly divorced former Lady McCartney has just been announced as one of the judges on the Miss USA pageant.

After the divorce settlement and the exact amount of Heather's newly-found wealth were made public, the general opinion was that Mills would probably leave Britain and start over someplace else - most likely in the United States. Given the fact that her divorce generated an impressive amount of ill-feeling towards her in Britain - as well as the fact that she frequently complained of receiving death threats in the aftermath of her separation from Sir Paul - most of us would have expected Mills to keep herself out of the spotlight for a while. But apparently, it's not the case. Mills has just been announced as one of the Miss USA judges, and is said to have happily accepted the offer.

So, it looks like Heather Mills is here to stay. Admittedly, the beauty pageant does take place in the States, so at least she's staying away from Britain at the moment, where pretty much every website and celebrity magazine is taking a rather negative stance towards her. Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that the family court judge who ruled in the Mills-McCartney divorce decided to make the entire court resolution public, and the 58 pages paint a not so flattering portrait of Heather's attitude an testimony in the case. She didn't allow the trial to end on a peaceful note - during yesterday's court session, Mills ended up upturning a jug of water of the head of McCartney's lawyer - and launched into a furious rant against her husband on the court steps.
