Now, don't say I didn't tell you: it doesn't pay to go bitching around while your divorce settlement is still in the making. Heather Mills just found out that sometimes it really pays (pun intended) to keep your mouth shut. The former model (who is currently fighting former husband Sir Paul McCartney in a highly public divorce drama) ignored warnings from the top law firm Mishcon de Reya (whose representatives warned her not to talk about her split from The Beatles legend) and has now been told to look for a new legal team.
"Mishcon have just been tearing their hair out. They are astonished at Heather's crazy outbursts. She was warned against going on TV and talking about Paul, their marriage and anything about her daughter. But she just refused to listen", said a source. "She was told time and again to keep quiet because she might hand Sir Paul's lawyers an easy victory. But she is so crazy she decided she knew better than the best divorce lawyers in the country. It is total madness. Her bid to win public sympathy could end up with her throwing away millions". Yes, well, in the end it is all about the money. Wait - din anyone actually have any doubts about that?
Just last week, Heather was also dumped by her publicist Phil Hall in the wake of her outbursts on several UK and UK TV shows. The former model blamed Paul for just about anything you can imagine: the breakdown of their marriage, his daughter being "evil", making her suicidal after receiving death threats - and on top of all that, likened herself to the late Princess Diana. Yesterday she returned to UK breakfast show 'GMTV' and insisted it was a relief to give her side of the story.
"Speaking out was the difference between being in prison and being on parole. I got the chance to defend myself. It was unbelievably cathartic. I've had 18 months of the worst press ever and I got the chance to protect myself and my daughter. I stayed quiet for a year and it didn't work, I had 4,000 articles written about me", she said. Last night, Mishcon de Reya refused to comment, on reports they are no longer representing Heather. I bet they're quite ashamed of having had her as a customer, too. Well, it will be very interesting to know what happens next - and I'm sure we'll have more news for you very soon.
