It’s been 5 years since Heath Ledger, one of the most talented actors of our times, died of an accidental overdose. He is survived by a daughter with actress Michelle Williams, Matilda Rose, whom his parents describe as a very “lucky girl.”

Michelle and Matilda are rarely photographed by the paparazzi, and the actress talks about their personal life even more seldom.

This is what makes the statements from Heath’s parents all the more amazing.

Sally and Kim sat down for an interview with Australian publication New Idea and, among other things, also detailed the relationship they still have with Michelle and, of course, their adorable granddaughter Matilda, Radar Online informs.

“Matilda is indeed very much like her dad — she has long limbs and similar features,” Sally says of the resemblance fans have often noted upon between Matilda and her late dad.

“However, she also possesses the beauty of her mamma — lucky girl,” Heath’s mother adds.

“Matilda has the same walk as Heath and is such a respectful little kid – she calls us ‘Papa’ and ‘Grandma Sal.’ Our family has the most wonderful relationship with both Matilda and Michelle. We talk frequently and visit as often as we can,” the actor’s father chimes in.

At the time Heath died, he and Michelle were no longer a couple but they were still united in their efforts to offer Matilda a proper home and as close to a normal life as possible.

For years after his passing, Michelle refused to talk about their life as a couple, let alone about what didn’t work out to make them go their separate ways.

When she did talk about it, she was almost instantly sorry she did, pulling back from the spotlight even more and saying that she should have never let the public see this side of Heath, one that was hers and hers alone.

In recent months, Williams seems to have found love again, but she remains as private as ever.
