The team at Paradox Development Studio continues to work on the core mechanics of Hearts of Iron IV, but they are also finding the time to offer gamers more details about the inspiration that powers the game and the way historical data is being used to create a solid grand strategy experience.

The new video features Dan Lind, the project lead, speaking at the Arsenalen, the Swedish museum of military vehicles, where he takes fans on a tour and shows them a variety of tanks that were important during World War II, while also talking about the way various nations approached their development and used them in combat.

In-game images are also used, and the 10-minute-long footage explores areas like industry development, the impact of war experience and vehicle production mechanics.

Hearts of Iron IV is designed to offer a realistic yet streamlined take on World War II and gamers will have to decide whether their chosen nation can create high-quality tanks in order to form an attacking wedge or if they opt for quantity in order to win the day.

The grand strategy experience allows players to control research, production, internal politics, diplomacy and army movement as they explore the major worldwide conflict from the perspective of any nation involved in it.

Hearts of Iron IV has a spectacular map

Paradox has been upgrading the graphical aspects of its new World War II title and the map looks spectacular, as seen in a new Twitch stream which also features Dan Lind.

Gamers will be able to seamlessly move between a zoomed out view, which focuses on the political boundaries and the night and day cycle, and a zoomed in one that shows terrain and weather, which are very important for army activities and for aerial raids.

The newly designed map also features a new take on rivers, which are coming in two varieties and have a bigger effect on movement, thus being more valuable on the defensive.

Paradox also says that it wants gamers to be able to get a lot of information about the game world at a glance via the new user interface.

Gamers who like Hearts of Iron IV can still enroll in the Rush to the Front reward campaign, which gives them a chance to get into the beta for the grand strategy title.

Launch date is at the moment set for the first few months of 2015.
