14 DAY TRIAL // Julia Roberts and husband Danny Moder are on the verge of a very nasty divorce because she’s too heartless and too controlling, and he’s finally had enough. That’s the story in the latest print issue of Star Magazine, which trumpets the $225 million (€165.2 million) divorce on the cover as a sure thing.
Fans of the “Pretty Woman” star must know that she and Danny, her husband of 12 years, are not that big on PDAs, choosing to keep their romance away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi and, of course, the tabloids.
Ironically, this means that their relationship is often subject to breakup / divorce rumors, in which the financial aspect is mentioned a lot. In the aftermath of the suicide of Julia’s half-sister and speculation on whether their estrangement played a part in her drastic gesture or not, it was somehow to be expected to hear about the divorce again.
Star doesn’t disappoint. According to unnamed insiders “close to the actress,” things between her and Danny couldn’t be any worse. Because they started dating when he was married to his former wife, Julia never really trusted him fully so she tried to keep him from straying by basically keeping him under lock and key.
You know what they say, once a cheater, always a cheater. Admittedly, Julia took this saying to heart and did her best to make sure history wouldn’t repeat itself.
“Julia’s whole M.O. is to keep Danny by her side, because she’s petrified he’ll cheat. So she treats him like a child, checking his phone, looking for emails and texts from other women and monitoring who he socializes with and when. She rules the house with an iron fist and uses the fact that she brings in the bulk of their income to control Danny,” says the spy.
So far, it’s worked wonders for her, but her half-sister’s recent death made Danny understand how “heartless” his wife could be when it served her interest. And he no longer wants that in his life.
After years of being on a tight leash, after years of fighting and arguments on fidelity and just as much time of “serious tension with the in-laws,” Danny seems to have decided that he’s had enough. Julia too, claims another tipster.
“Still, image maintenance for Julia means that the couple may not be able to split right away, and for the sake of their three children, Danny has been sticking around,” the report continues. However, when the ax does drop, the divorce won’t be an amicable one because of the money involved, the tab suggests.
