Blizzard is only delivering cosmetic changes

Video game developer Blizzard is announcing that it will be introducing alternate heroes for all the classes currently available in Hearthstone, because it is aiming to give gamers more variety when it comes to the core card-based experience.

The reveal comes after a teaser was offered yesterday, which talked about a new character being introduced for the Warrior.

Magni Bronzebeard, who is the leader of the Ironforge clan of dwarves in the lore of World of Warcraft, is the first of the bunch to be launched, and gamers who are interested in getting access to him will have to pay 10 dollars or 9 Euro.

The fact that alternates are being introduced for Hearthstone classes is entirely cosmetic, and the newcomers do not come with any attached gameplay changes.

For Magni Bronzebeard, Blizzard is promising to deliver an animated hero portrait, unique emotes to use, a hero power that uses another animation, and a special card back.

The additions will certainly be attractive to the most dedicated Hearthstone fans, although it's unclear how many of them will be willing to pay the price that Blizzard is quoting.

The studio states, "Usurp the traitorous Garrosh Hellscream and bring down the hammers of dwarven justice with Magni Bronzebeard; the first new Warrior Hero for Hearthstone—coming soon!"

Hearthstone will probably not get access to new classes anytime soon

The addition of Magni Bronzebeard is a great way to make sure that the card game gets another revenue stream while also delivering gamers some new content to explore.

Blizzard has already said that the official position is that it will not introduce any new characters classes in the coming months because they would entail too many changes to the core balance of the title.

It's unclear how much time the development team plans to wait between the release of the coming alternate characters for the various classes.

Fans are expecting to get another expansion for Hearthstone before the end of the year, which will probably add more cards and will make some tweaks to the core mechanics.

Blizzard has not made an official announcement about it, but launch might take place around the date when BlizzCon is set to unfold in the fall.
