The free-to-play online card game isn't ready for the public

Blizzard has just confirmed that it's opted to delay the Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft open beta test, as it still wants feedback from users about the current state of the game. Even so, quite a lot more people will be invited in the current closed test phase.

Hearthstone was revealed to the world some time ago as a free-to-play online card game based on the Warcraft universe from Blizzard.

The game has been in closed beta for quite some time, as only those with invitations could try it out.

An open beta was set to debut this month, but Blizzard has made a tough decision and postponed the open test phase.

According to Production Director Jason Chayes, the recent big changes made to the game are bound to affect some systems and cause issues, so the team doesn't want open beta testers to deal with that.

"We believe the right thing to do for the game is to not rush it out into open beta, but to instead hold onto it a little longer to make sure it’s ready for wider testing. Our highest priority is that Hearthstone has an awesome launch when all gates are lifted and everyone can download it and play at the same time," he said on the game's blog.

"We’re close to the open beta—very close. And to enter this final part of our beta phase, we need your help. Keep trying out new decks, reporting bugs, and giving your feedback on our forums. That’s the best way you can help the team get Hearthstone into everyone’s hands as soon as possible."

Even so, in order to make it up for those who still haven't been able to test Hearthstone, Blizzard confirmed that it's invited into the closed beta test all users who signed up for the trial phase before Monday, December 16.

It will invite even more people on January 7, so now's your chance to manifest your interest in the game and try it out ahead of the future open beta.

As of yet, it's unclear when the public test will begin.
