Hearthstone is now officially live, having launched as a final version and ending the prolonged testing period it went through. Players can now crack open booster packs and hone their deckbuilding craft in a much more definitive manner, and those who took part in the closed and open betas can feel proud for helping to shape the game into what it is today.

How exactly such a weird product came to be was a mystery to many, elucidated during an interview with Hearthstone Lead Designer Eric Dodds, revealing that the card game's genesis lies in the assembly of an experimental development team that sought to share their passion of collectible card games and make them more accessible to the general public.

In order to celebrate the launch, Blizzard has prepared a festive day full of Hearthstone-related activities, taking place this Friday, on March 14. Players will be able to jump in and take part into all the exciting events arranged, or just kick back and relax, watching from the sidelines.

Some well-known Hearthstone community members have prepared a ton of content especially for this auspicious occasion, with the developers adding updates to the upcoming Hearthstone Day page throughout the entire day.

Murlocs have seen their fair share of love from Warcraft's community, and they've seen every type of incarnation, from costume to plushie and even a song. It's time to honor the lovable creatures, so get your game on and submit your best murloc impressions on Vine, using the hashtag #HearthstoneDay, from 9:30 GMT to 11:30 GMT.

If you have just opened your first ever booster pack, take a selfie of the inaugural event, featuring your satisfied face and your phat lewt and post it on Instagram with the hashtag #HearthstoneDay, from 13:00 GMT to 15:00 GMT.

Additionally, the Hearthstone development team will be answering any and all community questions about the beta, so tune in to the Google+ Hangout to watch the Q&A and participate by submitting your questions. The Q&A event will be hosted by a member of the Community team, taking place from 18:00 GMT to 18:30 GMT.

The team is also offering Facebook cover images as well as Twitter icons for those who want to celebrate the launch of Hearthstone on their social media profiles, and hints have been offered regarding upcoming cross promotion initiatives across Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2 and Blizzard's future multiplayer online battle arena, Heroes of the Storm.
