It will focus on PvE, but 2vs.2 is possible too

Although Blizzard hasn't yet officially announced the number of Hearthstone players, recent reports claim that they “are off the charts.”

If anyone had any doubt that Hearthstone is currently the most successful Blizzard title, here is something that will turn them to dust. Word is that Blizzard's card game has recently passed the impressive 75 million players milestone.

The information comes directly from a Blizzard employee via a Yahoo Finance Contributor. Obviously, due to Activision's policy on sharing any information with the press, this source has remained anonymous.

Apart from the fact that Hearthstone is one of the most popular Blizzard games, it will also receive new content in just a few months.

Apparently, the next expansion for Hearthstone will be launched sometime in April and will be focused on PvE gameplay. According to the same report, Blizzard is also experimenting with adding a 2 vs. 2 mode, but this might not make it in the April expansion if they think it needs more work.

Hearthstone has more than tripled the number of players since September

Since the last time Blizzard officially announced the number of Hearthstone players, that number seems to have more than tripled. Back in September, Blizzard announced that more than 20 million players around the world “have stepped inside the inn to sling some card in a game of Hearthstone.”

Fast forward 4 months and Hearthstone is one of Blizzard's most popular games with (unofficial) more than 75 million players.

The last expansion launched by Blizzard for Hearthstone was Goblins vs. Gnomes, in December 2014. The expansion added no less than 143 new theme cards that changed the metagame completely.

Unfortunately, there are no details on the theme of the next Hearthstone expansion, but if the current report is accurate, then we might find out in the next couple of weeks.
