Yes, it's now official: the mystery headphones which the "modder extraordinaire" Ben Heckendorn has been teasing the gaming planet with are real and will hit the stores in early July as declared by Ben himself.
Actually, the mystery headphones are a gaming set, with ear cans and microphone and even some extra premium features one does not meet in every store.
First of all, the Audio FX Pro 5+1 looks so vintage and old school that you could be wondering how come anyone might think of selling such a thing. Well, friends, it is this very thing that attracts the eye – the very classy and classic look with dark brown colors combined with black and the omnipresent aluminium-silver shades create a most enthralling and appealing presence.
The Audio FX Pro 5+1 sports virtual 5.1 sound and internal vibration motors which are triggered by very low frequencies, possibly not audible by human ear: they will create a subsonic rumble and give the listener the very sensation of head trembling as in front of large concert loudspeakers blasted at full power.
The cable is long and neat allowing for movement across the room for gaming necessities such as grabbing food or slamming a door. The Audio FX Pro 5+1 is also capable of blocking external noises so the (over) passionate gamer will no longer need to pretend not hearing requests like "take the trash out" or "go shopping".
The Audio FX Pro 5+1 connects via USB to this version it wired, so far. Maybe the future development (together with eDimensional.com) will bring further improvements to this very nifty headset. The Audio FX Pro 5+1 comes with its own drivers and the box itself was designed by Ben as well.
The bullet holes on the box are as real as possible as Ben Heckendorn explains: "the bullet holes on the box are real. I bought some leather, blasted some .45 and .22 caliber holes in it, then scanned it into the computer. Only the most authentic art for MY customers!"

Finally, the Audio FX Pro 5+1 sells for $80 as promised (initially the announced price was "under $100").
