After an eight-month break in St. Lucia and reportedly kicking her drug addiction only to succumb to alcohol, British singer Amy Winehouse is back home in the UK, presumably to start work on her next, much-delayed and highly anticipated album. Winehouse arrived at a London airport alone and immediately burst into tears when she was met by her staff, WENN informs.

Looking healthier than she has in months, Amy surprised fans in the UK with her unannounced arrival, especially since anticipation is high that she has done so in order to start work on her next album, for which she has been writing during her stay on the exotic island. Rumors that she has finally managed to overcome her drug addiction and the more recent alcohol-related issue, mostly stemming from her much healthier appearance, only make the purported purpose of her return all the more appealing and exciting for fans.

“Amy Winehouse returned to her native Britain on Monday after an eight-month break in the Caribbean – and promptly burst into tears. The ‘Back to Black’ hitmaker fled to St. Lucia in December in a last-ditch bid to conquer her drink and drug addictions. She briefly returned to the UK in March but was back on the paradise isle within weeks – and spent the following four months relaxing in the sun, partying, and riding horses. The singer finally returned to Britain on Monday arriving alone at London’s Gatwick Airport – where she broke down in tears as she was met by her driver and personal assistant.” WENN, the agency that had also sent photographers to greet Winehouse at the airport, writes.

As fans must know, Amy’s stay in St. Lucia has not been without incidents, speculation running rampant that she had hit rock bottom, ironically precisely in her attempt at stopping the use of heavy narcotics. Both her father and her mother constantly spoke to the media all this while, hinting that the singer had simply replaced drugs with booze, and that they were no longer willing to aid her if she did not want any help. Moreover, Winehouse reportedly became very depressed and the little material that she wrote while there was deemed too “dark” by her label, which asked her to go back to the drawing board for the follow-up to her immensely successful “Back to Black.”

However, all that seems to be in the past now, as Winehouse was all smiles and the very image of health the other day, upon arrival in the UK. “Amy looked tired but happy to be home. She got a bit tearful when she met up with her driver and PA because she hasn’t seen them for so long, but other than that she seemed to be in good spirits.” an eyewitness tells the same news agency. A statement regarding Winehouse’s music plans should be released in the following weeks, it is believed, so keep an eye on this space for when that happens.
