A large majority of healthcare organizations have admitted suffering a data breach over the past couple of years, and hundreds of millions of medical records have been compromised since 2005.

Medical records are highly valuable on the black market, the price for a single patient’s record being estimated at around $50 (€39).

So, is your medical information safe?

ID Expert has published an interesting infographic to answer this question.

The infographic shows that the security of personal information is at greater risk now than it was a decade ago, which shouldn’t surprise anyone considering that we live in the age of information.

“Identity theft will not go away, until the issue of identity is solved,” noted Robert Siciliano, CEO, IDTheftSecurity and personal security and identity theft expert.

“‘Identity-proofing’ consumers involves verifying and authenticating with numerous technologies, and the flexibility of consumers to recognize a slight trade-off of privacy for security.”
