As a new date for health insurance enrollment approaches, the HealthCare.gov website has been fitted with improved security against cyber-attacks.

The website has been the subject of vocal criticism when launched last year, as visitors would face a blank screen or encounter error messages instead of the options available under Obamacare.

This year, to save you from tears, the officials promise that none of those problems would occur, announcing beefed up security standards for the facility hosting HealthCare.gov. Certifications have been given for smooth operation in compliance with government-agreed quality level for cloud computing, according to a report from AP.

By relying on cloud architecture, problems with registration or accessing the content are unlikely to appear.

Last year, evidence was uncovered from the search logs that a large number of individuals were trying to hack the website. This year, the officials have conducted a security audit and penetration tests in order to prevent unauthorized access to databases collecting sensitive information from the users.

Basically, the good guys simulated real attacks in order to uncover cracks in the technology used for the site. The Homeland Security Department is involved in the process so that the enrollment kickoff scheduled for November 15 goes without a glitch.
