The 10-year-old black Labrador saved Cecil Williams' after falling onto the subway tracks and regaining conscience just when his faithful companion started licking his face. The 61-year-old blind man got too close to the edge of the platform and fell, but his guide dog wouldn't let his owner die and woke him up just in time to dock from the incoming train.

Mr. Williams was going to the dentist with Orlando, his support dog when he felt like fainting and fell from the edge of the platform. Despite his dog's attempts to hold him back by pulling his leash, they both ended up on the tracks.

When the canine heard the train approaching their spot, he did everything in his power to awake the man, succeeding just in time to dock between the tracks.

The man was immediately taken to the hospital because of a bump to his head, and his life savior was constantly on his side. Now, the health insurance company is asking the man to give up the dog, because next year the animal must retire and they cannot cover the costs of a non-working dog, according to Daily Mail.

“The dog was trying to pull him away from the southbound edge of the platform, but his feet were on the edge, he was wobbling, and the dog was barking. But there was nothing he could do once he was down there. He just sat there with the man. He just licked the man's face trying to get him to move,” one eyewitness told The New York Post.

The loyal canine attracted people's attention who desperately tried to signal the train's motorman to slow down. The train slowed down and rolled on just two carts over Cecil and Orlando. The 61-year-old suffered just a gash to the head, most probably from the fall.

The man was amazed by the luck he had and by the dog's incredible struggle to save his life. Orlando must soon retire, and because Cecil can't afford keeping him without the support given by the health insurance company, he will be looking for a very good home for the life-saving canine.
