More campaigning to support the “milk cause”

Despite the financial crisis affecting everyone's shopping priorities, milk is among the products that shouldn't be forgotten when going to the store. Experts keep reminding us, if necessary, just how great milk is for our health and well-being, as it is considered to be one of the most nutrient-rich products money can buy. The prices are also affordable - an eight-ounce glass of milk costs about a quarter of a dollar.

There are many campaigns going on these days, like the USA National got milk? Campaign, with the funny and catchy milk mustache ad trying to bring to public eyes the nutritional importance of milk and derived products. When compared to the other beverages piled on supermarket shelves, milk is, by far, the healthiest choice: it contains nine essential nutrients, like great calcium and potassium amounts, vitamin A, vitamin D, and lots of proteins. It is also the cheapest, in case the previous reason just didn't sound convincing enough.

More than that, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration decided that, in the near future, milk cartons would be “labeled” with the following free of charge health advise “adequate calcium and vitamin D throughout life, as part of a well-balanced diet, may reduce the risk of osteoporosis”. The info will be at consumers' reach, in every store.

The campaigns have been joined by Hollywood celebs, sports icons, and by financial gurus such as Susan Orman. “One thing you can't afford to be without is milk because it's packed with nutrients to help make you strong and healthy so you can be wealthy. Milk is one of the most nutritious investments you can make for your family,” she says.
