As of late, a sandwich that, until not long ago, did not even appear on the McDonald’s menu, has started to garner more and more attention. The McGangBang was first named in a 2006 entry in the Urban Dictionary, where it was described as a McChicken sandwich sandwiched between the halves of a double cheeseburger. It’s nothing short of a health bomb – but it can now be ordered in most McDonald’s restaurants, The Consumerist notes in a recent post.

Back in 2009, EatMeDaily went through the immense trouble of documenting the entire history of this foul-named sandwich that suggests an unlikely pairing (chicken and pork) in a manner that is anything but pleasant. Though it causes serious damage to one’s belly, it is very light on the wallet, costing only a little over 2 bucks. However, for a very long while, McDonald’s would even acknowledge that such an item existed (for obvious reasons, one might presume, health related ones also included), even if most of its employees knew by heart how to make it.

“McDonald’s loves to hear from our valued guests, especially when they customize and create meal combinations to fit their personal taste preferences – no matter how unique! Whether it’s requesting an Egg McMuffin without cheese or a Big Mac with extra secret sauce, McDonald’s is proud to satisfy our customers’ requests and provide them with a variety of great-tasting meals every time they visit our restaurants,” McDonald’s said in an older statement to EatMeDaily, when asked about the “unique” sandwich.

“Though it’s just come to our attention, long before anyone had ever gotten their hands slick with a KFC Double Down, some folks out there were loosening their belts because of [this sandwich] – an entire McDonald’s McChicken sandwich that is then sandwiched between the halves of a double cheeseburger. What [it] puts on your waistline – 750 calories, 35g of fat – it makes up for in your wallet, since both sandwiches are on the McDonald’s dollar menu, you’re looking at just over $2 for the whole shebang. Of course, you’ll probably need more than a few sodas to wash it down...” The Consumerist notes.

As also noted above, this sandwich is starting to get increasingly more attention because of KFC’s Double Down Sandwich, which uses two slices of chicken instead of bread, and is touted as the first sandwich of the kind, which explains how popular it has turned out to be. Apparently, McDonald’s customers came up with something even more “filing” long before KFC released its own sandwich. The KFC Double Down weighs in at 540 calories and 32 grams of fat, though, for what is worth.
