When talking accessories, headbands must not be forgotten

As of late, we've been seeing lots of celebrities wearing headbands and looking drop-dead gorgeous while at it. No matter if they go for the hippie or the goddess-like look, if they’re relaxed or self-conscious, they do get our undivided attention. Wearing a headband with style is no rocket science, which means that if you ever have a bad hair day, you will no longer shun the idea of going out of the house for fear of looking bad.

For fashion icons like Paris Hilton, Alicia Keys, Nicole Richie and Natalie Portman, wearing a headband is not just the latest trend they’re keeping up with, but also a way of emphasizing their personal style. Basically, there's no way you can go wrong with it, especially as you have thousands and thousands of shapes, fabrics and styles to play with. Fashion designers are prepared even for your wildest fashion dreams and desires, and the feathered headbands, likely to become the next hit of the season, are a living proof of that.

You should pay due attention, though, lest you fall in the other extreme. When showing off an extravagant headband, the rest of your outfit should definitely be as simple as possible. If it's the outfit in itself what you wish people to notice you for, then a modest such hair accessory is all you need. Complete your subtly elegant look by letting some strands of hair loose, and you’re ready to go. In this sense, the thin, black or golden, headbands we also see on the red carpet will help you get that Greek goddess look that is so appreciated these days.

However, before taking to the streets with your newly acquired hair accessory, there still are some tricks you need to know. One such tip would be the fact that the headband holds in place longer if you apply some hairspray on it. Stylists also recommend that you do not wear the headband less than an inch from the hairline, as it would make you look like an outdated teacher. Of course, you don’t have to have long straight hair to be able to wear a headband, as you can be quite trendy if you also match it with a ponytail or bangs (it definitely works for Paris Hilton and Britney Spears).

If metal or plastic, feathers or sparkles are simply not you, you can always try on your favorite scarf
