Haze is probably the most anticipated game to be released exclusively on PS3s this year and the demo that has just been released proves that it
really deserves all the waiting. However, in what will probably be no surprise for most of the
PlayStation 3 console owners, it has been officially confirmed that Haze would have a "minimal", mandatory 4GB install (not the whole game). It only remains to see if this install makes the to-be-released title fly on the consoles or follows the rule set by the others (and started by
Devil May Cry 4 a while ago): no visible performance upgrades after the install.
The fact regarding the minimum install has been revealed on the official Ubisoft forums, along with other info. For example, in addition to the campaign, there will be 12 more multiplayer maps which will be made of two variants, each of six locations. Still, there will be no mapmaker, nor a possibility to upload maps in Haze (the developers said that they could add it but that would mean a one-year delay to the game - which sounds a bit too much, don't you think?).
Still, what matters the most for gamers and fans worldwide is the way Haze will move and how the mandatory install will affect gameplay. We'll find out pretty soon, when the game is released - tomorrow.
Haze is set in the year 2048, in a world where governments have outsourced military operations to private military corporations. You will play as Shane Carpenter, a newly enlisted soldier seeking fulfillment and thrills by fighting for a good cause. As the leading PMC, Mantel Global Industries offers an array of cutting-edge military equipment, including a high-tech arsenal of vehicles, deadly weaponry, and the performance-enhancing drug Nectar. Of course, everything starts well, but things soon change...
