Hayden Panettiere is not your typical 18 year-old, however, in a world ruled by the likes of Miley Cyrus and Vanessa Hudgens, her presence is slightly more refreshing and certainly a lot more realistic than
you'd expect from an 18 year-old who shot to sudden fame after portraying a supernaturally-endowed cheerleader in a hit TV show. After a period last year when Hayden seemed to be just about everywhere - out and about in town, eating at paparazzi-infested locations and attending every award show and concert in town - the young star seems to have turned over a new leaf and is currently pursuing her own, much more grown-up interests, such as animal protection and activism. She is also quite keen to let the world know that these days, she finds being famous "a pain in the a*s".
"I don’t ever go out," she states in an interview with the Sunday Mirror. "I stay at home. I go from garage to garage, and keep myself out of sight. I love where I live and that I have wonderful friends there and I love what I do, but it really has a major impact on your life," she admits. "This business is very intrusive. People want to know what you’re doing every day, and it becomes less about your craft and your art, and your love for acting, than it is about when you put food in your mouth, or when you’re walking your dog". Hayden has forgotten, however, that there was a time when she really seemed to enjoy playing the "look at me, I'm famous" game. Those days are, she would like us to believe, long gone.
Moreover, even Hayden goes on to say that glamor overshadows talent, and that some people are famous for doing nothing in particular. Shocking news, really - but if all fame-whoring were to suddenly cease in Hollywood, the whole place would probably collapse into the sea or be swallowed by some "King Kong meets the Cloverfield monster" mutant creature. It will never happen. So, it's probably best to resign ourselves to such mundane activities listening to celebrities talking about how their own fame and fortune annoys them. "The interesting thing to me is, if you think about it, the glamor of Hollywood has been dimmed down by people that don’t necessarily love what they do or their craft. I think people who are mainly in the public eye and deal with this [attention], a lot of them like it and enjoy it. I don’t really enjoy going out, it’s a nightmare in my opinion," Hayden says. We'll just have to take her word on that for now.
