Hayden Panettiere Cuts Her Hair Short, Doesn’t Want to Be ‘Cute’

Hayden Panettiere is going through a phase in which she’s trying to have the public get to know the real her. After dying her hair red and doing some tweaking to her style, the petite actress decided to go all the way. On a recent outing, she unveiled a short ‘do in a darker blonde, which stands for her refusal to be “cute” anymore, the Daily Mail informs citing Hayden herself in an interview with a US publication.

Dressed in a little black dress and hanging on the arm (almost literally) of boxer boyfriend Wladimir Klitschko, Panattiere attended the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and, at the same time, unveiled her new ‘do. Coming in a darker shade of blonde, her hair was swept back in a very severe coif, which also had small sideburns. The actress wanted to distance herself from the petite pin-up girl image that helped her launch her career and, as photos can prove, she’s doing a great job at it already.

“I’m typically a very fiery person anyway, but I just feel like cute and blonde and little is just so one category and one thing and changing my hair color, I feel like I don’t have to overcompensate so much for the fact that I don’t like being called cute or anything like that – especially being all 5ft 2 of me,” Hayden was saying for one US glossy publication a while back. Getting a short ‘do is certainly one of the easiest ways of avoiding being stuck with the “cutie pie” label, many agree.

“She’d dyed her hair a dark blonde color, just a couple of weeks after she returned to her original blonde coloring following a foray into dark auburn that lasted several months. Hayden’s blonde locks helped make her a typical all-American girl pin-up, however, the new hairstyle marks quite a departure in her appearance. In fact, it accentuates her impish looks to maximum effect and certainly goes against the cute, girl-next-door that launched her to fame,” the Daily Mail says.

As also noted above, Hayden is now dating Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko, who has a PhD in Sports Science and speaks four languages. In an older interview confirming that they were an item, the “Heroes” star gushed about how protected she felt going out with a man of such a strong build but said that his initial appeal to her had little to do with that. It was his intelligence that first got her attention and made her feel attracted to him, she revealed at the time, as the same British publication can confirm.
