Critics and fans alike lamented how little screentime Hawkeye got in the first “Avengers” film, which came out in 2012, and how it created the impression that he was somewhat less of a superhero than his fellow Avengers, including the mighty Thor, the smart Iron Man, the huge Hulk, the deadly Black Widow and the brave Captain America.

Let Hawkeye explain to you how that feels.

Jeremy Renner stopped by Jimmy Fallon the other night to promote “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” and beside the traditional sit-down, he also agreed to a hilarious little number that saw him cover Ed Sheeran’s famous “Thinking Out Loud.” On the piano. In character.

As it turns out, Hawkeye might not look like much, but he has many superpowers. He doesn’t just shoot a bow and arrow, he also has an impressive collection of scarves, is brilliant at video games, and counts the feat of going to second base with his Tinder date among his many accomplishments.

You really have to see this one to believe it. And by the way, who knew Renner could sing? With a little more training and dedication on his time, he could turn this into a successful side-career.

On the bright side, Hawkeye has no more reasons to be upset: in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” writer-director Joss Whedon finally gave him a backstory and better character definition. His time has come.
