AT&T announced the launching of a 3G wireless broadband service in Oahu, Hawaii, changing how, when and where people in Hawaii will access the Internet, use e-mail and entertainment services. During the last three years, AT&T invested about $49 million in Hawaii's wireless network, and the 3G network launching comes to continue the company's growth in the Aloha state.

The third-generation (3G) wireless broadband network from AT&T allows both consumers and businesses to enjoy the advantages of broadband speeds. 3G-enabled mobile phones can be used to instantly access rich-featured wireless content, like the latest news, music, entertainment and weather, as well as games, videos and pictures, via MEdia Net, AT&T's mobile Internet portal. With the new 3G network, Hawaiian residents or visitors can also view high-quality clips through CV, the on-demand streaming video service that provides a rich library of mobile video content from different top media brands.

"The benefits and features of our 3G network are a perfect match for the outdoor and active lifestyles in Hawaii," said Ed Maruyama, director of sales for AT&T's wireless operations in Hawaii. "AT&T's wireless customers will benefit from the powerful combination of a superfast network and a portfolio of next-generation 3G devices that quickly deliver interactive content and applications anywhere, anytime - whether a user is on the road for business or enjoying another beautiful day at the beach."

AT&T's 3G network also brings DSL-like speeds for AT&T LaptopConnect mobile customers, offering them access to the Internet, corporate e-mail or their company's intranet from anywhere within the 3G network. This combination, between LaptopConnect and AT&T's 3G network, is ideal for users who need to boost business productivity and have to download large files or run corporate applications at high speeds.
