Mob Ruler, the developer working on Haunts: The Manse Macabre, says that it no longer has any money to complete its Kickstarter-funded project and that no programmers are working on the game at the moment.

Rick Dakan, the project leader on the game, states via Kickstarter that the money obtained from donations was insufficient to complete the development process and he is currently working with Blue Mammoth Games in order to continue the project.

Dakan admitted that he was naïve in his handling of the development project.

The developer says, “We will get it finished but that's not what I asked you to sign up for and it's not what you gave us money for.”

Kickstarter has been recently used successfully by a number of video game-related projects that have been funded beyond their expectations, including the Double Fine adventure projects and the Obsidian-made Project Eternity.

Regardless of the success stories, there are also other smaller projects that fail to deliver their promised games.
