He makes it appear as though a shopping cart is steering itself in a Target location. He hides inside the cart and gets covered up with a 3D cardboard cutout imitating a full cart of groceries.
The ghost cart doesn't scare everyone, as children seem quite entranced by it. One shopper realizes that she is the victim of a set-up, and jokes about being on “candid camera.”
Most people seem very amused, and watching them chase it around to understand how it moves is hilarious. They interrupt their conversations and walk around the store trying to solve the mystery.
