Back in the days when troubled rocker Pete Doherty of the Babyshambles fame donned a trilby and something that vaguely resembled a military/detective coat, watchers in the fashion industry shrugged him off as a man who had no sense of style whatsoever. Now, almost two years later, Victoria and David Beckham have also discovered the potential of felt hats and they’re showing it – as such, they are hailed the setters of a new trend.

Hats have always been a clear sign of unparalleled elegance, not the uptight kind, but rather an urban type of elegance that is usually innate and rarely acquired. As of late, hats have started to slowly emerge again on the scene, and it could just be that Posh and Becks donning them turns out to be the push that they needed to go mainstream once more. After all, we know that whatever the duo does / wears becomes norm in just a short while.

As the Beckhams arrived at Heathrow for the Christmas holidays, they were the perfect picture not only of the happy family, as their three boys were with them, but also of what it is precisely that has made them such influential figures in the world of fashion. While Victoria went for a more PI look, matching her trilby with a detective coat and large, heavily adorned bag, and a pair of discrete, yet extremely elegant, ankle boots, David chose to stick to his casual sporty style. With all that, he proved once again that, unlike what we might have thought until now, snickers, wide jeans and leather jackets do go just lovely with hats. 

Whereas, not long ago, Victoria Beckham was often criticized for her choices in terms of fashion, she is now held in the highest regard by the industry. Oppositely, husband David has always been considered one of the trendiest, most fashion-savvy male celebrities out there. We can only imagine what the two can do by their powers combined.
