Skinny doesn’t necessarily mean healthy, just like heavier doesn’t equal unhealthy. Pro dancer Lacey Schwimmer from DWTS is making a stand to have the world hear that, defending her curves from haters who have recently been calling her fat.

The other day, Lacey was photographed in a pair of rather unflattering mom jeans, which accentuated her heavier build and prompted many to go online and call her fat.

She may be no stranger to bullying of this nature, but Lacey is neither the kind of woman who takes it sitting down.

So she is speaking out, telling her haters to “Zip it!,” the Daily Mail informs, citing a recent interview.

“I have [breasts], I have a huge [rear] and I have a lot of muscle. I like having curves – I’m proud of them!” Lacey says.

When she was a teen, Lacey developed an eating disorder because she didn’t know this is how her body was supposed to look and, caving it to peer pressure, she began starving herself to be thin.

At 13, she dropped to a size 0, weighing just 98 pounds (approximately 45 kg), thanks to a very strict diet of just six slices of turkey a day, even though she’d be up in the studio dancing for hours on end every day.

“My hair was falling out and my skin was grey. It was a really bad time,” Lacey recalls.

After so many years, Lacey has learned that there’s simply nothing she can do to change her figure except to eat healthy and get plenty of exercise, which, thanks to her job, she does.

She’s also learned to embrace her curves, saying that we’re all different.

“There’s nothing I can do about except let it go and get over it!” she says.

Lacey and partner Chaz Bono were saved on the latest show of DWTS. Elisabetta Canalis and Val Chmerkovskiy were voted off the competition, as we also reported the other day.
