The power efficiency of the chips may very well be legendary

While desktop owners have to contend with potentially incompatible PSUs, since Haswell CPUs are more efficient than most power supplies can cope with, the laptop industry can rejoice.

Obviously, Haswell Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs, as well as all the eventual Pentium and Celeron chips based on the architecture, have the same advantage.

Until now, however, it was hard to guess just how much the batteries of laptops would benefit.

A lot, as it turns out. Intel claimed, when communicating with Computerworld, that battery life could be extended by half, compared to Ivy Bridge-based models.

What's more, the standby lifespan could become 20 times longer.

All the while performance is not negatively affected in the slightest.

If Intel can deliver on these promises, there will be plenty of happy people come June.
