Almost a decade went by since the famous series, featuring semi-naked and apparently perfect men and women on sunny beaches, ended but its main star and later its executive producer can still talk about it. As a matter of fact, when David Hasselhoff exited the show, many viewers were shocked. Now, the actor admits that he lied to the public and to his fans about the way he was killed off because he, too, was shocked and disbelieving. David, who played the charming Mitch Buchannon, said in a recent interview that the ending he filmed was a totally different one than the ending the network aired. 'I filmed a different ending. Then I found out they blew me up', Hasselhoff admitted. When he learned about what had happened to his character, he called the producers and asked them for an explanation and, obviously, the one he received was too bad to be made public. 'I called my producer and I was like, "Why the f**k did you blow me up?" He said, "Oh, we thought it would be a good idea as a cliff-hanger. Then you'd appear on a beach somewhere down the road and maybe get rescued by a whale"', David said about his being axed from the series and the way he was literally sent for a walk. However, the actor insists that the parting was not marred by any hard feeling because, in either way, the series was no longer what it used to be, having lost a lot both in terms of audience and quality. 'The show turned into garbage', Hasselhoff added.
