Hasselblad is a brand known around the world for its luxury cameras that feature exotic finishing touches like carbon fiber, padouk, leather, or wooden grips, while various models also come with gold-plated parts.

A couple of months ago, Hasselblad launched a few new Stellar Special Edition cameras that integrate the latest Carl Zeiss lenses alongside the revolutionary Hasselblad imaging technology and Full HD video capture capabilities.

Recently, the company announced the availability of a new Limited Edition camera under its Lunar series that celebrates the Chinese New Year.

Ian Rawcliffe, Hasselblad CEO, said, "We wanted to celebrate what, coincidentally, is also known as The Lunar New Year, with a unique and iconic limited edition camera which we believe will be revered as a true example of camera art by photo-connoisseurs and collectors across the world."

The new Lunar Limited Edition cameras come with a 24MP image sensor, Full HD video shooting capabilities, and a black 18-55mm E-mount lens. These models feature a PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) finish that provides a high-grade resistance second only to diamond.

In addition to that, the new models are made in exclusive red and gold colors, which represent good fortune and joy in traditional Chinese beliefs.

"Our Lunar mirrorless, interchangeable lens camera range embraces all the advanced technology found in top DSLR models and each unit in this latest Limited Edition version is offered sequentially numbered," said Rawcliffe.

"This is a unique opportunity for a very small number of discerning photographers who want high-spec shooting capability linked with matchless Italian craftsmanship in a point and shoot camera, to invest in a photo-capture icon," he then added.

The new Hasselblad Lunar Limited Edition cameras will be available starting January 31 at a price of €7,200 / $9,800. If by any chance you want to spend this kind of money on a camera, you should hurry before all 200 pieces are gone.
