We sure seem to have a lot to say about Brit these days. But it's not our fault her life goes on under such intense scrutiny, or that things around her seem to spin out of control sometimes. OK, most times. Take a minute and count: custody battle raging, family turning against her, all those close to her subpoenaed to testify. And speaking of that, don't forget that ex-husband Kevin has done his fair share of digging in the dirt and has subpoenaed many of the people around Brit, including her bodyguard and her former PA, Shannon Funk, to testify in the custody trial.
Now, there's something about this whole Funk story that just makes me wonder. Exactly what Shannon Funk is doing in this mess? Can anyone guess? I've been asking this question to myself for a while now, seeing that Funk only worked for the Britster for about three weeks before getting fired. One possible answer would be that she was with Britney at the infamous shoot for OK! Magazine. Yes, that's right, the one where the pop diva used the toilet with the door open, wiped greasy fingers on designer clothes worth thousands of dollars and walked out on the shoot repeatedly until disappearing completely. Ooops, sounds like Funk does have some stories to tell that might help form (or, rather DEform) a jury's attitude on Britney's mental stability and parenting skills. And although we keep hearing pleas to leave Britney alone 'cause she's such a good mother, while the latter may be perfectly true someone's deeds speak louder than words sometimes.
In the meantime, there's plenty going on around Brit, but since I'm tired of repeating all the bad things that everyone from her sister to the latest lover boy she's fondled in a pool somewhere, I'd much rather remind you all that finally someone out there decided to share some good stuff with us rather than spill the beans on another wacky Brit mishap. And even though we don't know who this mysterious insider who calls himself "Jeff" is, or whether he's really an insider from Brit's circle, some of the stuff he says makes sense.
"She's a young girl, who's finally attempting to be totally independent and that's just something that the people around her -- business people -- do not want to see happen. When someone gets fired, they immediately decide to hop on board with all the haters. However you never see them report anything negative when they're employed, they just run to the tabloids and try to sell their bogus stories after she's canned them" he comments. We may well relate this to the whole Funk business we were talking about earlier. It's true that her former assistant did not step up of her own accord, but by the way, when she got served she had just finished hanging out with a bunch of reporters from OK! So maybe we just spoke too soon. Anyway, we'll soon know how this story unfolds, and whether Brit is or not the fallen, harmless angel or the devil in disguise that she's made out to be.
We gotta hand it to Britney though - she seems to have quietened down a bit, or at least i hope it's not just an illusion. But the fight is on and maybe she's finally going to give us something good to talk about at last, although rumor has it that the diva's big comeback planned for the VMA's in September has somehow fallen through and she's gonna be replaced by Madonna. Stay tuned for more.
