You want superpowers? Just make sure you dry clean it

Exoskeletons have been a thing for years, decades even, but clothes that can enhance your abilities, and maybe give you new ones, have been a pipe dream so far.

Not anymore, though. Or at least they won't be a dream for very long, now that Harvard is all over the issue.

You see, a team of researchers from that particular university have begun to develop a Soft Exosuit that could presumably give you extra endurance (walk longer distances), reduce the risk of injury when carrying heavy loads, and essentially enhance your physical abilities all around.

Harvard can't exactly give specific parameters or anything, since it's only just started work on the exosuit. The idea will definitely lead to something, though. The Harvard team did, after all, just get a $2.9 million / €2.2 million contract to do it.

The Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University will closely apply what they learned so far of the biomechanics of human walking.

The end result should be free of the problems of traditional exoskeletons, since instead of hard shafts and gears, it would use functional, soft textiles woven into clothes pulled on like a pair of pants or a shirt. Essentially, the Soft Exosuit would be worn under actual clothing/equipment in the field.
