Katie Leung has become very unpopular among Daniel Radcliffe's fans, since she was cast as his onscreen girlfriend, Chao Chang, in forthcoming Harry Potter film The Goblet Of Fire.
The 18-year-old Scottish actress, whose father was born in Hong Kong, has been attacked on numerous web site message boards.
"Looking different from most people at school never caused me any problems, so I never expected the hate that popped up on the internet after I got the part in the film. I couldn't understand why people were so angry", Leung declared.
"I'm very proud about how strong I've been over it, though, and it has actually motivated me to try even harder and become even more successful", the actress added.
According to CBBC Newsround, "The girl who Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe will eventually get to kiss has been revealed by a newspaper to be a schoolgirl from Glasgow. Katie Leung beat more than 4,000 hopeful girls who queued for hours at open auditions in February".
