One of the most prolific and appreciated British actors, Richard Griffiths, has died. He was 65 years old and was undergoing heart surgery when he passed away, the Daily Mail reports.

Known for his role as Vernon Dursley in “Harry Potter,” Griffiths’ impressive resume included roles both in theater and film / television.

He was talented, funny and incredibly lovable, and, as former co-star Daniel Radcliffe says in a touching statement, incredibly warm to the people he worked with.

“Any room he walked into was made twice as funny and twice as clever just by his presence. I am proud to say I knew him,” Radcliffe says.

“Richard gave acting a good name. He was a remarkable man and one of our greatest and best-loved actors. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy go to his devoted wife Heather and his family at this sad time,” his agent Simon Beresford also says.
