In an interview with 'Newsweek' (out today), the 'Harry Potter' main star confirmed that he would be taking on the lead role in Kenneth Branagh's version of 'Equus' by Peter Shaffner. In what is, according to the teen star, an attempt at shaking off the wizard image the franchise construed of him, he will play the part of a young boy with a religious erotic obsession for horses.
Daniel will take the stage next summer and, yes, he says, there will be a scene in which he appears in the nude. His character is a confused young boy, who only gets sexual satisfaction when riding horses. In the said scene, Daniel appears with no clothes, high up on a horse.
'Part of me wants to shake up people's perception of me, just shove me in a blender. It's a really challenging play, and if I can pull it off - we don't know if I can yet - I hope people would stop and think, "Maybe he can do something other than Harry"', Radcliffe told the magazine.
Other than wanting to show his fans that his career as an actor cannot and must not remain limited to his part in the 'Harry Potter' series, Daniel Radcliffe also talks in the interview about his personal life and about being just a regular 17-year-old who still can't believe how many people shout his name at movie premieres.
